Lima to Huaraz

Transport from Lima to Huaraz is via public bus (7-8 hour trip) with multiple companies providing multiple daily departures. One way cost per person is around S. / 35-100 soles. We can arrange your bus tickets from Lima to Huaraz - with advance notice. We can also arrange private transportation (private vehicle or mini-bus) with advance notice.

There is now daily air service between Lima and Huaraz. Check out this website for schedules, fares, weight restrictions.

There are rental car services in Lima. Please decide where you want to go before you commit to a car because if you plan to see the lakes and ruins in the Cordillera you would do well by using a vehicle with higher clearance. The roads, once off the highway are dirt and gravel and can be rough in a car. Yes, the taxis do drive everywhere here, but there are also endless taxi fix it shops, the roads can take a toll on a vehicle. However, these roads take you into wonderful places, some with a feeling of being out there !

Huaraz to the Lazy Dog Inn

The Lazy Dog Inn is located 12kms east of Huaraz, Peru. We can arrange a secure a taxi for S/35-S/45 soles from Huaraz, rates are higher for nighttime trips. The best road is one that passes by the Wilcahuain ruins (at km 6) and continues to the right hand side and up, into the mountains. Tell the driver to drive to Km 12, where you will see our sign, and we are 300 meters down on the right hand side. The other, but in poor condition for cars with low clearance is past the El Pinar residential area to the hamlet of Marian then 3.1 kms further up the Cachipampa road to where you'll see our sign. (This road is not recommended for cars in the rainy season) Walking distance from the Lazy Dog Inn down to the community of Marian is 3 km and takes 45 minutes; there you can wait for a collectivo taxi. There are NO collectivos to the Lazy Dog nor is the any public transportation.
