Andean Alliance NGO Projects 2010

Since 2003, the Peru registered NGO Andean Alliance, has been an active entity in the area surrounding The Lazy Dog Inn. The NGO was created to provide infrastructure development, increase financial opportunities, training and educational services, sport activities, improve environmental and farming techniques, security systems, assist local guides and look at the larger picture of sustainable tourism in the immediate area. We feel that by being active residents in the community, with long term goals, we are best able to help set up projects that have a high level of successful possibilities. As you can see, we are not too far from Huaraz but endless eons away from benefiting from services from the local cities and towns. People living in this area are separated from Huaraz by means of no transportation, schools, communication, health services, security, potable water, electricity and general supplies. They are not even subsistence farmers who have a low level of education, high aspirations who need an opportunity.

To date, with the help of countless volunteers and donations, we have seen progress and completion with some projects while others are on going and some are waiting for funding.

Examples of some activities have been and are the following:

  • Material and technical support for local road improvement
  • Planting of alternative grasses to show other ways for animal management
  • Composting and waste handling
  • Local hiring and training
  • Local support of guides and animals
  • Building of a mini football field and volley ball court with nets, balls and vests
  • Sports training and tournaments
  • Yearly Christmas Games and Chocolatada Day
  • Christmas food and toy Contributions to the local pre-schools
  • Rivas School ( see attached sheet )
  • Document proposal support for water system improvement
  • Security communication systems
  • Early Childhood Stimlation with children and mothers
  • Literacy for young people, developing reading , writing and oral speaking skills
  • English Classes
  • YuracYacu Community Business Center ( see attached sheet )
  • Receiving and working with student volunteers and volunteer groups such as : Rustic Pathways ( USA ) , World Challenge (UK ) , Goshen College (USA) , Aiglon College (Switzerland )

We are happy to share our experiences with you and provide you with any information you may like regarding Andean alliance and any project. There are volunteer opportunities and we will be more than happy to accept and financial donations which can be made directly or through the official account in the Peru based Scotia Bank.

We are currently looking for donations to start construction of the Community Center, leadership training courses and support of small projects with the local school in Rivas.
